On Saturday, March 18, 2023, members of the Barrington-based Signal Hill Chapter and Fox Valley-based Elias Kent Kane Chapter, NSDAR, joined together in a ceremony to dedicate a commemorative plaque honoring Nancy Currier Kimball. Nancy Currier Kimball was the daughter of Revolutionary War Patriot William Currier. She lived in the Elgin, Cobblestone House for 40 years -- from 1846 until her death at age 101 in 1888. Signal Hill Chapter project chairwoman Jacqueline Marcus introduced the program's four speakers, including: Illinois DAR District IV Director Susan Snow, who spoke on the topic, "DAR and Historic Preservation"; Elgin Area Historical Society President Anne LoCascio gave remarks on "Our Mission: To Preserve Elgin's History"; Elgin History Museum Director Elizabeth Marston provided an overview of "Restoration of the Cobblestone-A Labor of Love"; and Elgin Area Historical Society Past President, Alan Walters, addressed "The Nancy Kimball Legacy.
